Celebration Cruise Line kicked off its $250,000 Caribbean Idol Karaoke Contest starting with its September 1, 2010 two-night cruise to the Bahamas. Contestants compete for a free cruise on every sailing, with a maximum of 15 singers competing for $10,000 each month. Nine finalists will compete for $100,000 in early June. Each cruise has a contest, with the winner determined by audience voting. The individual cruise contest winner receives a free cruise and the opportunity to compete for $10,000 against just 14 other cruise winners. Singers are urged to sign-up at the time of booking their cruise as given the significant prize money being awarded, competition spots often fill up quickly. The contest is open to all non-professional singers ages 14 and up. A non-professional is defined as a person who has never had a record contract with more than a thousand records sold. |
